The trade of the remer is an ancient one in Venice. Officially it dates back to 1307. The remer was the maker of oars for the Venetian boats and vessels. This activity has since been placed side by side with the production of “forcole”.
Maestro Piero Dri revives in his workshop the old Venetian skills and, day after day, keeps alive the traditions of a city unique in the world.
The workshop of a remer
Is unique in its kind. It is both a place of manufacturing and of selling the finished products. Stopping to watch theremerat work is without a doubt a pleasant and characteristic experience, delving into an ancient world in which art and craftsmanship meet and merge together.

Completing a forcola is a bit like crossing a finish line. I savour the moment as it will stay forever. Something has been created. And I must wait a little longer before embarking on another journey.
